Peer Review Committees and Mandates - Canada Postdoctoral Research Awards (CPRA)

CIHR’s Canada Postdoctoral Research Awards (CPRA) are provided to PhD holders, Health Professionals and Allied Health Professionals wishing to perform research.

The evaluation of CPRA applications focuses on the applicant's track record, research potential and experience and the quality of proposed research program.

Applications are assigned to one of the two multi-disciplinary committees described below based on the scientific area^{Footnote *} of the proposed research activities.

Canada Postdoctoral Research Award - A (PT1)

This multi-disciplinary committee reviews Canada Postdoctoral Research Award applications from holders of an Allied Health Professional, Health Professional and/or PhD degree, with a generalist’s perspective, to assess the candidate’s potential as a prospective independent investigator in biomedical and/or clinical research. Applicants who haven’t received their PhD degree would be place in a committee based on their scientific area.

Canada Postdoctoral Research Award - B (PT2)

TThis multi-disciplinary committee reviews Canada Postdoctoral Research Award applications from holders of an Allied Health Professional, Health Professional and/or PhD degree, with a generalist’s perspective, to assess the candidate’s potential as a prospective independent investigator in health services research and/or social, cultural, environmental and population health research. Applicants who haven’t received their PhD degree would be place in a committee based on their scientific area.
